Individual Therapy in NYC

Individual therapy in New York City

Why Therapy?

I offer individual therapy in Midtown Manhattan for adults seeking help with anxiety, depression, stress, emotional regulation, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. I also work with clients throughout New York State by telehealth.

Therapy can provide relief from immediate distress, but it can also lead to a deeper understanding of who you are, how you relate to others, and what keeps certain emotional patterns in place.

Individual psychotherapy is not only about reducing symptoms. It is also a process of self-discovery, personal growth, and developing a more grounded relationship with yourself. Through therapy, you can gain insight into the roots of painful emotions, recurring conflicts, and behaviors that no longer serve you. That understanding often creates space for more freedom, clarity, and meaningful change.

Why I Can Help You

My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic, with a strong foundation in psychodynamic principles. My training, from a psychodynamically focused master’s program to advanced study at the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute and doctoral training in clinical psychology, has given me a deep appreciation for the value of clarifying emotional experience.

In addition to psychodynamic therapy, I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy when they are useful. This allows me to tailor treatment to your individual needs rather than forcing your concerns into a single model. My goal is to understand you carefully and help you make changes that feel both practical and lasting.

What You Can Expect

In our sessions, I provide a space where you can be fully yourself without judgment. My style is empathetic, reflective, and interpretive, while also being direct and practical when needed. Together, we will explore the patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and sense of self.

Individual therapy can help with anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, self-criticism, unresolved trauma, and relationship struggles. It can also help you understand older ways of coping that may once have been necessary but now create pain or limitation in your life.

Along the way, we will also identify your strengths, values, and aspirations. The goal is not simply to feel better in the short term, but to develop a clearer and more stable foundation for living in a way that feels more rewarding, connected, and authentic.

If you are looking for individual therapy in NYC, I offer in-person sessions in Midtown Manhattan as well as telehealth throughout New York State. You may also want to learn more about anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or contacting my practice to discuss next steps.
